The Oceanarium

Fascinating Views of Indo-Pacific Marine Life

Constructed in 1979, the Oceanarium provides guests of the Pacific Beach Hotel with a fascinating view of a unique microcosm of Indo-Pacific ocean life. Stretching three entire stories high and viewable from any of the three hotel restaurants, the 280,000-gallon aquarium is the largest of its type located in a single hotel. It is home to nearly 400 fish from more than 70 species.

Because of its size and the sheer number of forms of ocean life that it supports, this unique feature surpasses any mere aquarium and was appropriately named an Oceanarium.

The hotel's team of divers who feed the Oceanarium fish several times a day spellbinds guests and restaurant patrons. Arrangements can be made for the divers to carry and place a sign by Oceanarium windows to mark your special occasions and events.

Daily Feeding Times are 12:30PM, 6:00PM, 8:00PM ( Monday-Saturday).

NEW! The Oceanarium SNUBA Experience!

The Pacific Beach Hotel is the first hotel in Hawaii to offer Snuba - a combination of snorkeling and scuba diving - at its world famous three-story indoor Oceanarium. The Oceanarium snuba experience makes it easy for first-timers because no certification lessons are necessary, convenient because it is right across from Waikiki Beach on Kalakaua Avenue, and safe because there is never a worry about rough water or bad weather conditions.

Only two guests dive at one time accompanied by an experienced guide for about 20 minutes. The cost* for Pacific Beach hotel guests is $45 per person until March 31 and for non-hotel adventurers is $60 per person. Prices after March 31 are $60 and $75 respectively. The dives begin every 30 minutes and are scheduled Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until Noon and 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Snuba is as easy as snorkeling because the diver does not need an air tank but breathes through a mouthpiece regulator. Divers can roam to a depth of 20 feet in the Oceanarium.

To make a reservation to enjoy snuba at the Pacific Beach Hotel Oceanarium in Waikiki, call 808-921-6190 and say, “I want to snuba!”
